Jerry
Coons, Jr, got his career start in Quarter
Midgets at the South Mountain Park Facility in Phoenix, Arizona.
The club is still in existance as the Valley
of the Sun QMA. He was 5 years old when he put his first helmet
on and strapped into the racecar. "I ran quartermidgets for
a couple of years and then took some time off." says Coons.
Jerry was present for the
50th Anniversary of the Valley of the Sun
Quarter Midget Club in March of 2004.

The next step in Jerry's career
was the
#12 Go Kart
owned by his dad.
He ran Go-Karts beginning
at age 9 until he was 13 years old.
At 14 years old; Jerry climbed in a Midget
owned by his dad; Jerry Coons, Senior.
Sprint Cars were the next logical step in
Jerry Coons, Jr career plans. At 16 he was ready and was given the
opportunity to run this winged Sprinter.
Racing
and traveling is now a way of life and at 26; Jerry ran the Silver
Crown Car owned by Ralph Potter. Jerry also ran the RE
Technologies Silver Crown car for the 2001 and 2002 season. The
car is owned by Roger Johnson.
Jerry's IRL Rookie Test came at the age of
28 years old.
