Wilke-PAK & Coons Extend Point Leads Heading
Into Labor Day Weekend

Milwaukee, Wis., Aug. 29---Wilke-PAK Motorsports and driver Jerry Coons increased their points lead during the weekend of Aug. 25-26, with a victory and third place finishes.         Coons led the final 16-laps to win the opening night feature of the "National Midget Hall of Fame Classic"  at Angell Park Speedway (Sun Prairie, Wis.). The co-sanctioned event awarded points for both the USAC National & Badger Midget Car Series. The second evening Coons charged from the fifth row to place third in the historical event. Never previously in USAC's 51-year, or Badger's 71-year history had two foreign drivers swept the top two positions. Coons placed third behind New Zealand drivers Michael Pickens and Brad Mosen. The Stan Fox Memorial slated for Aug. 24 was rained out and will now be run on Friday Sep. 7 at the Plymouth (Wis.) Dirt Track.

Wilke-PAK Motorsports increased their lead in the USAC National Midget Car Owners Championship, now holding a 95-point advantage over their nearest competitor. Coons meanwhile now holds a 112-point cushion over Darren Hagen in USAC National Midget Driver points. Coons has also widened his lead in quest of his first National Midget Driver of the Year Championship.
Next on the schedule will be the 6th annual "Mid State Equipment Sue Thiel Memorial" at the Dodge County Fairgrounds. The event will again be co-sanctioned by USAC and Badger. Coons driving the Wilke-PAK#11 won the event in June 2006. The following evening the 26th annual Firemans Nationals presented by Pepsi will be run at Angell Park Speedway. The event will conclude the 2007 point season for Badger.

The Wilke team has won the event eight times with five different drivers Kevin Olson ('83, '86, '87), Rich Vogler ('85), Stevie Reves ('91), Tracy Hines ('01, '02) and Davey Ray ('03). Coons' best finish was runner-up in 2000.  For the first time ever the winners check will be $10,000. Coons has four feature wins at the track this season, three driving for Ralph Wilke and one for Wilke-PAK.
